Rain, rain, go away!

It’s been pouring and the temps haven’t hit zero in 2 full days. Almost all the snow is gone now except for the big piles and the mud is starting to appear in full force. πŸ™

We are supposed to get a few centimeters of flurries over next few days so there is some hope yet.

One possible good thing about the rain and warm temperatures is that I might actually find my keys now! πŸ™‚

Weather 02/17/05

So much for the -20 temperatures. The snow is melting away fast! The temps have since been hovering in the 0 to +5 C range and the air has been very moist and is eating away at the snow. With more rain forecast I am not holding my breath on doing much more snowmobiling this year. We only have another month and a half to two months left and right now there’s probably three or four inches of snow on my front lawn.

I only hope my rink in the back yard doesn’t disappear before I get to try it out. πŸ™

Weather 02/15/05

We had rain on Friday (the 11th) and apparently some Thunder and Lightning on Friday Night. Things cooled down again on Saturday and on Sunday we had 6 inches or so of snow. Yesterday was a cool sunny day and this morning my thermometer actually hit -20.5 C! It’s nice and sunny outside right now but very cold.

More Honda Ridgeline Goodness!

Looks like pricing is starting at $27,700 US. That should put her around the $36,000 Canadian mark. The dealers were talking around $45,000 so this pricing seems to be a lot better then expected. No Canadian pricing has been officially announced yet (to my knowledge).

Honda Canada also has information online finally. Click here to see it.

The one item that really grabs my attention is the towing capacity. at 5000 pounds even with your gear (no doubt up to a certain limit) it’s a lot more truthful then most every towing spec out there. For example (this is totally off the top of my head) the Toyota Tacoma has a 5000 pound towing capacity. But if you have a 200 pound passenger, a 300 pound dirtbike and another 500 pounds of cargo then the towing capacity is down to 4000 pounds. Honda seems to have a better way of describing the true towing capacity. We’ll see if this is correct when some more detailed specs are released.

Hope you enjoy the link!

Ice on the Bay

We just got in from cutting some holes in the ice. We found anywhere from 12-17 inches in all the holes we cut with the thickest ice being about halfway between burnt woods and the end of St. Alban’s looking in a straight line across. As we ventured out towards Roti Bay where the usual “trail” would be we found the least amount of ice at around 12 inches. Between Morrisville and Conne we found about the same as we found the last time we were out there 2 weeks ago – 12-14 inches.

Not a bad amount of ice. While we were cutting we saw two vehicles cross from Conne to St. Alban’s and a third came out and turned around and went back to shore. To get on the ice in Conne people are using the usual spot at the end of Burnt Woods and in St. Alban’s they are going up at Voyce Cove.

Vehicles on the ice…

I got a phone call this morning from someone who drove their truck across to St. Alban’s. Crazy I say, but I will reserve that judgement until I get some more holes cut to see how thick the ice is. With 5-7 inches out there 2 weeks ago I can’t see a huge amount of ice being there right now.

We had a warm day here today. +3 C and a little rain. The snow took a little hit but not as bad as the rink I started the other night when it was -16 C. πŸ™

Oh well, here’s to colder days ahead!
