My first weather entry!
Something I thought I would do so I can look back at previous weather trends and to share our weather with others who might be curious.
This morning was the coldest I’ve seen yet this year. at about 8:00am our thermometer hit -20.0 C. COLD!!! No wind (fortunately) and clear skies. It is now becoming overcast as snow is due later this afternoon.
Me and Siobhan went out on the ice yesterday to check the thickness. Out of the four holes we drilled the thickness ranged from about 6 to 7 inches. Two holes just off from the boat launch and two holes just off from Bayview Groceteria. I wish we had a powered auger! Although the weight of a poweder auger might have hurt Siobhan a little more then the manual one did when it hit her in the head (Accidently!)
Theres only a couple of inches of snow on the ground. We had a foot or more before Jan 1st. Then it rained and we ended up seeing a lot of grass exposed. ๐ The snow that was down had mostly melted away but then what was left froze solid and left a decent ice covering over the ground. We had a good 15 – 20 cms of snow on Friday (Jan. 7th) but it’s still not quite enough for snowmobiling.
Here’s to more snow!!! ๐
